2/3/2009 And I wish, I only wish that a truth has a tongueFrom the last album for Sami Yusuf, a small girl summarize Palestine crises in these lines.
Actually, I shed tears will hearing this track… 10/28/2008 Change Google Chrome's User AgentAfter I downloaded Google's new browser "Chrome", I gave it a try and amazingly it shows a lot of cool features "Task manager", tab as processes instead of being threads and don't forget "incognito window"; I went to check my E-mail but unfortunately Hotmail didn't recognize it and the full version of my E-mail is not available although Chrome can handle it will, so I google the net about changing User Agent in Chrome. The summary is you have to go to this path : C:\Documents and Settings\[account]\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\Application\[installed version] then find chrome.dll file and search for Chrome User Agent string inside the file then replace it with what ever you want. I used Hex Workshop in this, and the result was awesome .
for more information see this page : http://www.labnol.org/software/change-google-chrome-user-agent-string/4566/ 10/10/2008 Google in 2001 didn't recognize youtubeWhile checking my space; I saw my 5 days old post about "Google in 2001", then Here is some text I captured from 2001 FAQ page : "Why is this cool?
Thanks Google really I had a lot of fun. Mac is asking a question, cancel or allow ?!!While reading about Microsoft to improve Vista's problematic UAC in Windows 7 they talked about a television commercial from Apple spoof Vista's UAC. Watch the video it's awesome "Get a Mac ads : "cancel or allow ?" 10/6/2008 The Best 6 Sites to Get Free Ebooks
You might be surprised by how many good free ebook sites there are
out there. Nowadays, you can find pretty much any popular (and not)
book online. You just need to know where to look. Here are my favorite
ebook sites.
1. Ebook Search EnginesThese are simple Google-like search engines but for PDF files. I usually start my ebook search using one of these sites. Type in the title of the document or book name you’re looking for and click on the search button. Find your book in the search results and click on download link. Done.
So far my top 3 ebook search sites are:
www.pdf-search-engine.com (MakeUseOf review) www.data-sheet.net (MakeUseOf review)
2. Scribd.comIn case you have never heard of this one before, the simplest way to define Scribd would be to call it Youtube for documents. People can upload whatever text documents they want and easily share them with others.
You’ll find lots and lots of free ebooks here. You only need to know what to look for. For instance try searching for George Orwell, Leo Tolstoi, etc. And obviously it gets copyrighted ebooks much like YouTube gets copyrighted videos. I am not sure if they are doing anything to deal with them, but the fact is there are plenty of them on Scribd. Oh and as we have mentioned before, Scribd is also an excellent resource for free document templates. 3. Project GutenbergProject Gutenberg (aka PG) has the largest collection of public domain books. These are the books that out of copyright and available for anyone to use for any purpose. Lots of books from the world’s greatest fiction authors such as Dickens, Joyce, Shakespeare, Mark Twain, Anton Chekov and Edgar Allan Poe fall into this category. This site is the oldest producer of free ebooks on the Internet. PG is an extremely popular site and now has over 20,000 works. If you’re not sure where to start check out their Top 100 page.
4. Free Ebooks For Your iPod, PDA, Smartphone, Blackberry etc.For those of you who like to have ebooks on their portabe device we got some sites as well. Below are what I believe the best websites for books that can be read on mobile devices.
www.manybooks.net (MakeUseOf Review) www.feedbooks.com (MakeUseOf Review) www.booksinmyphone.com (MakeUseOf Review) For iPhone users in particular there is a website called TextOnPhne. It’s a great ebook site that comes with its own ebook reader app. There are over 30,000 free books for your Apple device. Check out the demo video here. 5. Free Tech EbooksThese sites are mainly for tech books, covering everything from computer science, engineering and mathematics to programming and web development.
(Bonus) DailyLitDailyLit is a bit different from the rest but I really like what they’re doing there. DailyLit can deliver a small excerpt from the book of your choice to your email on a daily basis. One excerpt per day, and so untill the book is finished. The reason it wroks so well is that it only takes around 3-5 minutes to read each excerpt. If you feel like reading more you can request a next excerpt with a click of a button.
While more than a half of all books cost about $4.95 per book others are free. There are plenty of good titles among the free ones as well, some of my favorites include My Life and Work (by Henry Ford), Siddhartha (by Herman Hesse) and Random Reminiscences of Men and Events (by John D. Rockefeller). Check it out. Trackback : http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/the-best-6-sites-to-get-free-ebooks/ 10/2/2008 Who were you in 2001? Check Google's old indexOnce of Google's 10th birthday gifts to the world is its re-release of a 2001 version of the search index. (The FAQ says there are "various technical reasons" for not displaying results back to Google birth year of 1998.) On it you can see what the service knew about any topic back then. Like you. Go ahead.
You know you want to. Pages that are not still live (which is a depressingly large proportion of them) may be served by the Internet Archive,
but many old pages are offline for good. Google also notes that this index is not actually a perfect reproduction of the real 2001 index; some index entries have been removed for various reasons over time. I found the index entertaining, but the lack of historical access to the early Web is distressing. And I fear that even with the Internet Archive up and running, we'll be in the same spot 10 years from now, due to a general lack of archiving procedures among site publishers, the predictable failures of businesses that hold online data (see Stallman: Cloud computing is 'stupidity'), and the inability of archive engines to pick up the content that's not on the open Web. 9/25/2008 JBuilder 2006 - JBuilder 2007 could not reserve enough space for object heap After spending 6 hours for this problems surfing the net, asking the experts; I found the solution. My problem was that both JBuilder 2006 and 2007 can't be run after a clean install !! Either saying nothing !!! and close suddenly or close after saying "couldn't create the Java virtual machine". At the end I decided that I'll format my lovely, fresh installed Windows. But suddenly I realized that the problem as it was expressed so I found that for :
find "jbuilder.config" in C:\Borland\JBuilder2006\bin then change vmmemmax 75% to be vmmemmax 256M and done :)
find "JBuilder.ini" in C:\JBuilder2007 and change -Xmx1024M to -Xmx512MHoping this article will finish any suffering, BYE. 9/10/2008 طالب العلمقصيدة اعجبتني بالعلم بل بالأدب تنال أعلى الرتب 7/10/2008 Finer lines for microchips could lead to next-generation computer chips, solar cellsMIT reports finer lines for microchips
Advance could lead to next-generation computer chips, solar cells, more
MIT researchers have achieved a significant advance in nanoscale lithographic technology, used in the manufacture of computer chips and other electronic devices,to make finerpatterns of lines over larger areas than have been possible with other methods. Their new technique could pave the way for next-generation computer memory and integrated-circuit chips, as well as advanced solar cells and other devices.
The team has created lines about 25 nanometers (billionths of a meter) wide separated by 25 nm spaces. For comparison, the most advanced commercially available computer chips today have a minimum feature size of 65 nm. Intel recently announced that it will start manufacturing at the 32 nm minimum line-width scale in 2009, and the industry roadmap calls for 25 nm features in the 2013-2015 time frame. The MIT technique could also be economically attractive because it works without the chemically amplified resists, immersion lithography techniques and expensive lithography tools that are widely considered essential to work at this scale with optical lithography. Periodic patterns at the nanoscale, while having many important scientific and commercial applications, are notoriously difficult to produce with low cost and high yield. The new method could make possible the commercialization of many new nanotechnology inventions that have languished in laboratories due to the lack of a viable manufacturing method. The MIT team includes Mark Schattenburg and Ralf Heilmann of the MIT Kavli Institute of Astrophysics and Space Research and graduate students Chih-Hao Chang and Yong Zhao of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Their results have been accepted for publication in the journal Optics Letters and were recently presented at the 52nd International Conference on Electron, Ion and Photon Beam Technology and Nanofabrication in Portland, Ore. Schattenburg and colleagues used a technique known as interference lithography (IL) to generate the patterns, but they did so using a tool called the nanoruler--built by MIT graduate students--that is designed to perform a particularly high precision variant of IL called scanning-beam interference lithography, or SBIL. This recently developed technique uses 100 MHz sound waves, controlled by custom high-speed electronics, to diffract and frequency-shift the laser light, resulting in rapid patterning of large areas with unprecedented control over feature geometry. While IL has been around for a long time, the SBIL technique has enabled, for the first time, the precise and repeatable pattern registration and overlay over large areas, thanks to a new high-precision phase detection algorithm developed by Zhao and a novel image reversal process developed by Chang. According to Schattenburg, "What we're finding is that control of the lithographic imaging process is no longer the limiting step. Material issues such as line sidewall roughness are now a major barrier to still-finer length scales. However, there are several new technologies on the horizon that have the potential for alleviating these problems. These results demonstrate that there's still a lot of room left for scale shrinkage in optical lithography. We don't see any insurmountable roadblocks just yet." The MIT team performed the research in the Space Nanotechnology Laboratory of the MIT Kavli Institute of Astrophysics and Space Research, with financial support from NASA and NSF. Here is a snapshot of the editor I made . Languages and technologies used in this project are C# .NET 2.0 and Tao as an OpenGL wrapper. Native C++ and C++/CLI are also used to make a connection between the editor and the physical simulation engine made by my project partner. 6/15/2008 Send Your Name to the Moon - is not a joke -Yes that's right, "Send Your Name to the Moon"
Now NASA is collecting names of people who support this mission and this list will then be placed onboard the spacecraft when it is headed for the moon.
If you want to send your own name to the moon, just go to this Johns Hopkins site and submit. The deadline is June 27. You may also print a "certificate of participation" in PDF. Thanks Gerard Vlemmings.
